JOIN OUR FAMILY
TMG recruits new members at the beginning of each semester. Recruitment is on a departmental basis, meaning you apply to join particular departments rather than applying to join the organization as a whole. We encourage you to apply to as many departments as you feel align with your interests and potential relevant experience. Regardless of department, our recruitment process is broken into three parts.
During the written application round, we are interested in learning more about your background and interest in joining our organization. We want to understand why TMG and how joining TMG fits into your future.
The mixer round is about getting to know you more holistically in a group setting. TMG members spend plenty of time together in the same classroom or breakout room and we want to see what you’re like as a team player.
Applicants selected from the mixer round will be interviewed shortly after. The director of your prospective department will have more in-depth conversations about your fit for a particular position in our organization.
MEMBER FAQS
+ Do I need marketing experience to apply?
Nope! We have members from a diverse range of academic backgrounds - some who come in with no marketing experience at all. We care more about diverse thinking and commitment over professional marketing experience.
+ Can I apply to more than one department?
Yes. We recommend you apply to as many departments as you are interested in. Each department's applications are reviewed by its respective department and director. The TMG team will review your applications and place you where we best see fit.
+ Do I need a portfolio for design or video production?
We strongly encourage you to submit a portfolio, even though it is not required. Our Design and Video departments heavily weigh the portfolio during the application review process.
+ Can I change departments once I'm accepted to TMG?
It is possible, but uncommon. We take special care to see which department best suits you during the application process, and once clients are selected for the year, it’s difficult to change roles. However, it is important to note that while everyone is assigned to a department, every member of the account works together on every deliverable throughout the entire process, so you are bound to learn about other departments during your TMG experience.
+ What is the time commitment?
TMG is a significant time commitment, often compared to a four-unit class. The entire club meets every Monday night at 8:00pm, along with additional meetings throughout the week depending on your account or department. We definitely work hard, but the family you find and the experience you receive is quite worth the time commitment.
